Beijing Capital International Airport (IATA: PEK, ICAO: ZBAA) is the main international airport serving the city of Beijing in People’s Republic of China. It is the world’s busiest airport and the largest Chinese airport.


Beijing Capital Airport is located 32 km (20 miles) northeast of city center, at Chaoyang-Sunyi District.


At Beijing Capital Airport there are the following terminals:

Terminal 1

Terminal 2

Terminal 3


 



Beijing Airport Terminal 1 is the smallest terminal at Beijing Airport since it serves only domestic flights to major Chinese cities.

It was inaugurated in 1980 and has underwent several renovation works and upgrades.

The terminal is home of 16 boarding gates.

 

LEVELS

First floor

Arrivals level. There is access to transportation, concessions, etc.

Second floor

Check-in. Security screening and access to gates.

Third floor

Restaurant and commercial area.

 

Transfer BETWEEN TERMINALS

From Beijing Airport Terminal 1 it is possible to reach Terminal 2 by a walkway. Transfer time is about 10-15 minutes walk.

There’s also a shuttle bus service between terminals as well. It runs from 06:00 am to 11:00 pm, every 10 minutes, and also between 11:00 pm and 06:00 am every 15-30 minutes.

 



Beijing Airport Terminal 2manages international and domestic flights.


Levels

Level 1: Arrivals, access to ground transportation (buses), some concessions, baggage claiming, among others.

Level 2: Departures area. Check-in, security check, access to gates and services.

Level 3: Food area and concessions.


Transfer BETWEEN TERMINALS

Beijing Airport Terminal 2 is connected to Terminal 1 by a walkway. Passengers can get there within 10-15 minutes’ walk.




Beijing Airport Terminal 3also named Dragon Terminal, handles both international and domestic flights. 

The 7-level building has 2 underground & 5 above-ground levels, houses 66 jetways, 120 gates, has natural lighting, and is divided into three concourses: T3-C, T3-D & T3-E.  (there are 120 gates). 
Boarding passes are color-coded so can guide passengers to their Concourses: T3-C is blue, T3-D is green and T3-E is yellow. 

Concourses AND LEVELS

Concourse C (blue) handles exclusively domestic flights (Level 2 of the building).

It has 4 levels:
Level 1: Boarding hall.
Level 2: Security (APM train)
Level 3: It is the satellite concourse area. It has gates from C37 to C19 (north), C1 to C18 (south) and C51 to C57 (center). These last ones are served by a shuttle bus service that runs to Level 1.
Level 4: Domestic and International Check-in and Baggage Claim area.

Concourse D (green) is the building located in the middle of the Terminal complex, between Concourse C and E. It only operates by some domestic flights of Air China.
It has 4 levels:
Ground Level: Transportation, Mass Rapid Transit Service.
Level 1: Security and passenger’s transfer area.
Level 2: Departures with check-in counter, self-check-in kiosks, and some food, drink and retail concessions.
Level 3: Arrivals and Baggage claim (there are located the VIP Lounges). Services: Food, drink and retail concessions, also VIP Lounges.

Concourse E (yellow) serves only international flights. It includes Taiwan, Macao and Hong Kong flights.
Gates are divided between North side and South side.
North side: Has gates from E20 to E36.
South side: Has gates from E1 to E19.
Inside the building there are located gates from E51 to E56 – E62 to E57. They are served by a shuttle bus service that runs to Level 1 of the terminal building.

Beijing Airport Express - Terminal 3
Beijing Airport Terminal 3 counts with a Transportation Center, where the Airport Express, a light-rail system, serves both buildings. The ride takes just four minutes, with three minutes’ frequency between Concourse C and Concourse E.
